CoolLED launches pE-100 LED light source

Oct. 29, 2009
Date Announced: 29 Oct 2009-- No More Mercury with CoolLED’s new productCoolLED, a leading supplier of high-performance LED products, is pleased to announce the launch of its new pE-100 light source. With a choice from over 20 LED wavelengths, ranging from UV-IR, it offers LED excitation at a single wavelength to suit the needs of light microscope users. The product is in response to demand for an economical LED source which does not have the inherent problems associated with the use, storage, and disposal of Mercury-based light sources. The pE-100 is a self-contained unit with a power supply and control pod for 0-100% intensity control. The user simply selects the desired LED excitation wavelength and microscope fitting for his microscope. An optional cable for remote control by TTL is available.Yasutomo Kubota of Nihon Molecular Devices, CoolLED’s Japanese distributor, commented, “We are excited by this new development. The pE-100 is an excellent stand-alone LED light source which can also be triggered remotely for use in either reflected or transmitted modes. We see a great future for this product.”An overview of the pE-100 can be found on the company’s website where a simple diagram explains how to specify the desired wavelength and microscope configuration.
