Pelton's new role will include expanding the energy efficiency and building intelligence capabilities of the company's lighting platform.Pelton comes to Redwood Systems from Tyco Electronics Lighting, where he was Chief Technology Officer, and helped develop an end-to-end solid-state lighting (SSL) system that allows fixture manufactures to enter the SSL market with or without an internal engineer.In addition to this achievement, Pelton holds 16 US and Canadian patents in the field of illumination. Previously, he was chief technology officer at Tyco Electronics Lighting, where he helped establish a business unit that developed the first completely warranted end-to-end solid-state lighting (SSL) system designed to allow fixture manufacturers to enter the SSL market, regardless of whether they had internal engineering resources. Prior to Tyco, Pelton was associate director of the California Lighting Technology Center at the University of California Davis, where he oversaw the engineering function, directed lighting research, and worked with regulators, utilities and industry on standards development. He also collaborated with the NECA/IBEW to develop training programs on advanced lighting controls for electrical contractors. Pelton holds 16 issued US and Canadian patents in the field of illumination and has advised companies such as Lumatech, Lumenyte, Ushio, Westinghouse, Access, OptiLED and Samsung.
