Important message from our editor on the Sapphire Awards

Oct. 9, 2018
Chief editor Maury Wright summarizes the requirements for completing your Sapphire Awards entries by the October 19 deadline.

Our LEDs Magazine Sapphire Awards program is approaching its fifth birthday. In five short years, the program has become among the most recognized in the LED and solid-state lighting (SSL) sectors. Indeed, Sapphire was the first industry program to recognize innovations across the landscape from LEDs and other enabling technologies to lighting product developments in a broad set of applications.

Moreover, the Sapphire Awards program is unique in terms of the recognition bestowed upon the winners. Our finalists are featured in the magazine. Winners accept their awards at a black-tie Gala, and the magazine shares insights into the innovations developed by the winners throughout the year. Sapphire further recognizes the Illumineer of the Year — a person or small team that has risen above the crowd in developing technology that will move the LED and SSL sectors forward in what is clearly the biggest revolution in lighting ever.

Remember, however, that you must enter to win at https://sapphireawards.secure-platform.com/a.

And the deadline clock is ticking toward midnight. Entries will close October 19. We have quite a few entries in the pipeline that are incomplete. Make sure you log back in and finish those up. If you haven’t started an entry, get going. You can’t walk the carpet in Las Vegas next February without entering.

Moreover, go a few extra steps. Upload everything you can to help the judges evaluate your entry properly. Don’t forget test reports. But also make sure the panel can grasp and understand the innovation represented by your entry. Valuable material might include case studies, customer testimonials, technical backgrounders, and more.

Also don’t forget to nominate someone from your team for the Illumineer of the Year award. That award will cap our Gala which will again be the don’t-miss event during Strategies in Light week in Las Vegas.
