NEW YORK – Enlighted Inc., the leading provider of advanced digital sensors and analytics platforms for smarter buildings, announces the launch of the Lumina Project, a collaboration of more than 60 lighting and built environment industry “Luminaries” dedicated to promoting high-purpose lighting design and technology within the lighting industry and the broader built environment.

As a contribution to UNESCO’s 2015 International Year of Light, the Lumina Project aims to facilitate discussion, debate and insights that will help advance the lighting industry’s role in transforming buildings and cities into intelligent, high-performing, and healthy ecosystems. Over the course of 2015, the Lumina Project is convening innovative architects, designers, specifiers, contractors, operators, and developers to share a range of perspectives on the future of lighting and acting as a catalyst for change in the industry.

“We are honored to collaborate with the industry’s most forward-thinking leaders as part of the Lumina Project,” said Zach Gentry, VP of business development at Enlighted. “The forums have elevated a need to create a future where all buildings are designed as vibrant ecosystems with an emphasis on the human experience. There is much work ahead to realize that vision and we’re excited to roll up our sleeves to make it a reality through collaboration and partnership.”

At LightFair International 2015 (LFI), Enlighted unveiled the project’s first perspective paper – Beyond the Switch – focused on the following core objectives that emerged from the insight forums:

1: Excite People About the Opportunity to Improve Quality of Life with the Quality of Light
2: Transform Integrated Design from Niche Practice to Industry Standard
3: Promote Healthy Lighting Benefits to Accelerate the Future of Lighting
4: Future-Proof Lighting While Building the Future Today
5: Activate Cross-Industries Collaboration on Research, Training and the Future of Lighting

The launch was celebrated in Enlighted’s LFI booth (#3121) featuring a keynote address by UNESCO’s Ambassador for the International Year of Light Rogier van der Heide, and Joe Costello, Enlighted CEO.
