Described as a “passionate person with high intrinsic motivation to change the horticultural industry,” Timo Bongartz leads the Fluence Bioengineering (also called Fluence by Osram) business unit in the EMEA region while also participating in and even driving the product and technology development in the company.
He has spent his career focused on the transformation of legacy processes into interconnected digital strategies at companies like Deloitte before joining Osram and focusing on horticulture. He was a key member of team that led the Fluence acquisition, and while he is now primarily focused on his Fluence work, he still advises the Osram horticultural program working on AgTech and also the seven-channel Phytofy platform being used by horticultural researchers.
Bongartz is a prolific speaker in the horticultural sector, having presented at more than 15 conferences around the globe. He has been involved in around 20 patent applications. Still, multiple colleagues said it is Bongartz’s passion for working with the growers that is his greatest contribution. A colleague said, “He is extremely customer focused and he goes over many limits to do everything for our growers.”
