The Lighting Industry Association’s (LIA) Certificate Course provides an excellent grounding in lighting technical knowledge and is attended each year by students from across the full spectrum of the lighting supply chain from lighting manufacturers, contractors to electrical distributors.
Each year students are invited to submit their work for entry into the awards sponsored by Mackwell, one of the leading providers of emergency lighting and technology solutions for the global lighting industry. This years finalists were chosen from over one hundred entries.
The finalists presented their work to the esteemed judging panel of Andrew Pease from Mackwell, Chris Wilkes from Holophane Europe Ltd and the LIA’s Nigel Brumpton.
The Mackwell Student of the Year Award goes to Natalia Gallardo Almazo from Arlico Lighting who was presented with the Crystal LIA Certificate Award Bowl, along with a certificate and cheque for £500.
Natalia researched every aspect of her design project, from tasks performed, machinery used within the environment, and building style. Natalia then used this knowledge to complete her lighting design concisely and having considered all possible aspects. This coupled with her presentation skills gained her the highest mark for her project.
“The calibre of work submitted by this year’s finalists is impressive. Mackwell is passionate about education and developing the skills of those working within the lighting industry, which is why we are always proud to participate in the judging process and be associated with the LIA Certificate Award.” – Andrew Pease, Mackwell
The two runners up are Katheryn Mawdsley from Light and Design Associates and Tim Baily from Martech UK Ltd, who both received a cheque of £250 and certificate.
The Awards were presented at The LIA's Annual Luncheon Event in May 2016 at The Draper's Hall, London by and Steve Davies, LIA CEO and LIA President, Peter Scott of Fern-Howard Lighting.
The LIA would like to thank the judging panel for their time and enthusiasm and Mackwell for their support and commitment.
