July 9, 2007
LED manufacturer Luminus has relocated its company headquarters and expanded its manufacturing facilities in Billerica, Massachusetts.
Luminus Devices has moved its corporate headquarters to an expanded facility located in Billerica, Massachusetts. The new facility will house the company's engineering, assembly and test operations, as well as its corporate offices. The semiconductor foundry will remain in Woburn, Massachusetts at a 30,000 square-foot manufacturing facility.

The new building will house Luminus’ expanding manufacturing operations to help meet increased demand for the company's PhlatLight™ LED products, and will accommodate its growing staff of scientists, engineers and manufacturing personnel.

Luminus will initially use 45,000 square feet of the new building, located at the Technology Park business campus.

“A larger facility for Luminus has been long overdue, with the growth of our company and the need to ramp up manufacturing capacity as we expand into new applications,” said Udi Meirav, CEO of Luminus Devices, Inc.

“The new facility will be essential as we enter our next phase of growth. We will continue to operate in Massachusetts and believe Billerica is an ideal environment for a rapidly expanding company like Luminus, thanks to excellent infrastructure and a fantastic workforce in and around our new hometown.”

Luminus says it has created 175 local jobs over the last four years and will continue to expand its workforce. Growth is expected to come from the company’s expansion into a variety of new applications, including backlights for LCD TV, video projectors, avionics displays, and LED- based lighting systems.
