Fusion Optix enhances in-house R&D and rapid prototyping

In-house prototyping capabilities will allow Fusion Optix to further develop LED systems and materials for lighting and displays.
Fusion Optix has invested in and installed laser-based prototyping capabilities for its Fusion Optix Technology and Engineering Center (FOTEC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This will enable the company to offer custom light-guide development, as well as precision finishing of optical films, sheets and lenses.

Fusion Optix offers a number of products that vary in size and form, creating the need for an in-house resource to quickly prototype films and components as well as to fill small-volume orders directly in a rapid turnaround fashion.

Terry Yeo, Fusion Optix CEO, remarked, "With the new prototyping capability now installed and fully operational, Fusion Optix is better equipped to finalize designs and serve our customers. Major display and lighting companies, along with distributors, have shown much interest in the technology put forth by Fusion Optix and this capability means we can have samples and prototypes in their hands much quicker than previously possible".

Yeo also believes this will lead to more rapid new product introductions and innovation in the company's systems portfolio.

For LED systems design problems, Fusion Optix employs its patented, light management film and sheet technology. This has more recently been augmented with the development of advanced waveguide, LED assembly and driver technologies.

The company also provides support for housing and fixture designs for LED backlight modules and LED lighting engines.
