DOE webcast describes 5-year SSL commercialization support plan

As part of its solid-state lighting Commercialization Support plan, DOE will host a webcast on July 2.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is hosting a 90-minute live webcast on July 2, 2007 to provide an overview of DOE's recently released 5-Year SSL Commercialization Support Plan. The webcast is the first in a series that will focus on topics of interest related to solid-state lighting.

The webcast will take place on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 10:00 - 11:30 am Pacific time, and will be presented by Marc Ledbetter of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

This 90-minute live webcast, sponsored by DOE, will provide an overview of DOE’s recently released 5-Year Solid-State Lighting Commercialization Support Plan (download here as a PDF file, 818 KB). The webcast will include a 45-minute presentation followed by a live question and answer session with attendees.

The DOE SSL Commercialization Support Plan is part of DOE’s national strategy to guide development and market introduction of high-performance SSL products.

Key elements of the Plan include buyer guidance such as ENERGY STAR® criteria for SSL products; design competitions; technology demonstrations and procurements; product testing; technical information dissemination; and standards and test procedure support.

Background: DOE is hosting a series of live webcasts focused on key topics of interest related to solid-state lighting. Future topics may include LEDs 101, Economics of LEDs, LED Packaging, DOE’s Commercial Product Testing Program, Luminaire Efficacy, and Thermal Management.
