LED Special Interest Group focuses on industry issues

May 9, 2005

The Photonics Cluster (UK) has created a "Solid State Lighting and Novel Light Devices" Special Interest Group (SIG) to help direct the activities of the cluster for the benefit of the LED community. The SIG will have a voluntary steering committee of 8 representative individuals or organisations that have a commitment to continuous development within the sector.

A few of the priority issues highlighted for discussion within the new SIG include LED packaging; technology transfer to wider sectors; thermal management; LED classification; system integration issues; LED measurement and lifetime; driving technologies; LED markets and exploitation; training and skills; and the development of conferences, newsletters, forums and workshops.

The Cluster recently hosted its second LEDs event at its facility in Birmingham, UK (see UK LEDs workshop focuses on technology and applications).

If you wish to be considered for one of the steering committee posts then please contact the Photonics Cluster (UK) by email.
