LED screens provide backdrop for Brit Awards

Gorillaz at The Brits For the fourth consecutive year, XL Video were the video screen suppliers for The Brit Awards, providing a high-resolution Barco iLite 6 XP LED screen measuring 15 metres wide by 7 metres high for the 2006 event.

It’s the first time that The Brits, an annual UK music awards ceremony, has used high definition (HD), a move prompted by the performance by Gorillaz, which specified a high-resolution screen of 2048 x 1024 pixels.

Paul Weller at The Brits The screen split into three sections that tracked horizontally across stage (via a Kinesys Vector automation system) and into different positions and configurations to provide a variety of different looks for the 10 live artists performing, who also included Coldplay, Kanye West, KT Tunstall and Prince.

XL also provided two 16:9 aspect ratio Sony 15 mm pitch IMAG side screens, each measuring 7 x 4 metres.
