Normally, we’d comment on compelling solid-state lighting (SSL) news and activity of the moment here on the blog, but today we have some news of our own to share.

Normally, we’d comment on compelling solid-state lighting (SSL) news and activity of the moment here on the blog, but today we have some news of our own to share.

In the coming week, you will see a new LEDs Magazine website roll out as a part of our transition to new systems under our parent company, Endeavor Business Media. In case you had not heard, our former parent PennWell Media was acquired earlier this year, so we have been working diligently behind the scenes to get up to speed on exciting changes in how we serve both our audiences and our media partners.

We are happy to note that the new website will bring updated content display and mobile-friendly features beyond what we have had previously. And the redesign of the website will offer a better experience for browsing and searching through our content and media resources.

While much of the transition will occur right away, please note that some functionality and features will be developed in phases. In this first phase, unfortunately, there is one change that we must announce with some urgency: For the time being, we will not have the submission page for public relations material to be pushed out to our Company Newsfeed. That means we will need to manually publish submissions and thus request that you e-mail them directly to me until an alternative solution is in place. We will still accept the content that we outlined back in January’s blog for the Company Newsfeed. I know that we just restored this function after not having it for some time, and we can appreciate the inconvenience of changing the process again. But we are optimistic that this tool will be available to us in the future, and that the improved user experience will be a benefit to us all. For now, we ask for a bit of patience as we address your e-mailed submissions in as timely a manner as possible.

On a separate but related note, we have also welcomed a new group publisher to our team and we hope that many of you will have the opportunity to meet Lester Craft at the upcoming LightFair International conference and exhibition. Lester is a seasoned veteran of business-to-business publishing, with deep experience in digital media across such companies as Reed Business Information, Questex, and Cygnus, which was part of the Southcomm acquisition by Endeavor Business Media. We know his guidance will be invaluable as we become fully integrated into the Endeavor family. You will need to ask him in person how he came to be on television with Leonard Nimoy. I think that would be an excellent introduction!
