Watchfire announces winners of its digital billboard competition
DANVILLE, Ill. – A digital billboard advertising campaign featuring live tweets and photos posted during the Penn State–Lehigh Valley commencement in 2014 landed Tri Outdoor, Inc. of Bethlehem, Penn., the Best of Show award in the 2015 Watchfire Digital Billboard Awards.
The awards were established to recognize digital billboard operators and advertisers who demonstrated advertising effectiveness, design, entertainment and legibility in digital advertising using digital billboards in 2014.
The “Onsite Tweet Penn State” campaign, which was featured in Social Media Monthly, featured a clean and legible design that showcased live Twitter and Instagram posts highlighting photos and tweets submitted by graduates, friends and family. The overall campaign began in advance of commencement with a branding initiative for the Lehigh Valley campus, followed by a countdown to the commencement ceremony and use of live social media before and during the event.
“As the medium of digital advertising has advanced, the use of creative and dynamic content continues to emerge and improve, and we felt it was important to recognize campaigns that focus on the unique strengths of digital advertising,” said Darrin Friskney, Watchfire’s vice president of marketing. “We are proud to highlight the innovation, engagement and capabilities of digital advertising, and want to applaud those who are doing it best.”
