Element Labs makes new CEO appointment

Sept. 6, 2008
The LED video technology specialist has appointed a new CEO to accelerate its plans for growth.
Element Labs, the Santa Clara, California-based developer and supplier of LED video technology has appointed Barbara Nelson as CEO. Nelson will take over as CEO from co-founder Nils Thorjussen.

The company says that Nelson’s appointment forms part of its strategy to strengthen its core management team and further accelerate its plans for growth.

In the longer term, we can speculate that these plans might include making Element Labs a more attractive target for an acquisition, or alternatively an IPO may be on the cards.

Nelson brings over 25 years experience in senior management positions, most recently as CEO and chairman at NeoScale Systems, which sold high-end enterprise security to Global 500 companies.

Element Labs is hoping to leverage Nelson's track record of "establishing the necessary infrastructure to successfully scale a business while maintaining its entrepreneurial edge, and developing new markets while building on the core. "

Thorjussen will continue as Vice President Business Development, focusing on "maintaining and leveraging the creativity and customer-service that has differentiated Element Labs, while also laying new foundations for continued, successful growth."
