Sensus VantagePoint provides energy-saving connected lighting management with modules, controls in Philadelphia

Aug. 4, 2016
RALEIGH, N.C. – The party may be over but Sensus continues to shine the spotlight on Philadelphia’s sustainability efforts. Energy-saving smart streetlights managed by the Sensus VantagePointTM Lighting Control Solution first lit the path along Independence Mall for attendees of the Democratic National Convention (DNC). They remain in place where they can be brightened, flashed or dimmed to support public safety for all visitors to the City of Brotherly Love.

VantagePoint is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way to keep public areas safe and promote economic development. The intelligent smart city solution uses a lighting control module, lighting software and the Sensus FlexNet® communication network for greater control and automation of lights.

“By providing full metrology—in addition to lighting control—VantagePoint helps utilities and public service providers conserve energy, better manage assets, reduce costs and increase public safety,” said Charlie Nobles, director of lighting solutions at Sensus.

“Our modules work for both LED and legacy area lights. That means greater control and reduced maintenance costs of lighting without having to change an entire network to LED technology.”
