New positions announced at Optical Research Associates, Hymite, Asymtek, Lightech and QD Vision.

Stuart David Named ORA’s Director of Sales

Optical Research Associates (ORA®) has promoted Stuart David to Director of Sales for its software business. David most recently was ORA’s Sales Manager, responsible for overseeing the company’s CODE V® and LightTools® direct software sales activities primarily in North America. In his new role, David has responsibility for ORA software sales worldwide, which includes supporting ORA’s international distributor network spanning 27 countries.

“Stuart has been a substantial factor in the continued growth of our software products,” said David Brown, ORA’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “His technical expertise and emphasis on customer success help our customers apply ORA’s software innovations to solve their toughest optical engineering challenges. In his new role, Stuart will bring this expertise to more of our international business and distributor network.”

Hymite appoints Director of Business Development

Hymite AG, a developer of miniature silicon packaging forLEDs, has appointed electronic packaging veteran Josef Kiermeier as Director of Business Development. He will be responsible for expanding Hymite’s customer base among electronics suppliers worldwide and reports directly to Hymite CEO Claus Nielsen.

The appointment builds on Hymite’s strategy of providing proven, ultra-small packages to the high-brightness (HB) LED industry for use in a variety of applications, including mobile phones, digital cameras and PDAs; automotive electronics, and consumer electronics applications. The small size and superior thermal qualities of micromachined silicon packages make the products ideal for mobile electronics.

Prior to joining Hymite, Kiermeier served as director of sales and business development for the Electronic Packaging Business Unit of Schott, in Asia.

Asymtek promotes Michel van de Vijver

Asymtek, a Nordson Company and leader in dispensing technology and pioneer in jetting technology, announced that Michel van de Vijver has been promoted to the position of general manager Asymtek, Europe. Van de Vijver joined Asymtek in 2000 as European sales and marketing manager. During his tenure with Asymtek, sales have doubled, lead times to the field were reduced, and the European Application Laboratory in Maastricht, Netherlands has grown into a full experienced operational unit.

Van de Vijver will be responsible for Asymtek’s operations throughout Europe including applications engineering, sales, service, and support for Asymtek’s complete line of dispensing and conformal coating products. He will also oversee the region’s distributor network and work closely with Asymtek’s regional sales managers and technical support departments. Prior to joining Asymtek, Van de Vijver was the sales manager of automotive products for VCST Industrial Products.

Peter Shackle appointed CTO at Lightech Worldwide

Peter Shackle has assumed the position as Chief Technology Officer of Lightech. Shackle will boost the company’s engineering expertise and oversee its technological direction. Shackle was most recently V.P. of Advanced Technology at Fulham Co., Inc., and prior thereto V. P. of Advanced Technology at Universal Lighting Technologies (ULT). He has also served as Chief Technologist for Energy Savings.

QD Vision strengthens Board and management team

QD Vision has appointed Dan Button as president, CEO and a member of the board of directors. The company also elevated Willy Shih to Chairman of the Board (non-executive) and named Edward Braun, chairman of Veeco, as a member of the board of directors.

Button has more than 20 years of experience launching and building materials-based businesses in global, high-growth markets, particularly in the display industry. He is leading QD Vision’s drive toward commercialization of its quantum-dot materials and display technologies by forging design-in and strategic partnerships with leading global manufacturers.
