LEDs Magazine 40 Under 40 Profile: Andersen Zapata

July 24, 2020
An observation on outdated roadway lighting led Andersen Zapata to found Lighting of Tomorrow.

Andersen Zapata is the founder and CEO of Lighting of Tomorrow (L.o.T.), a family-owned business that specializes in providing and installing lighting and renewable energy solutions that help clients as well as the planet.

Zapata said his interest in lighting was prompted during a drive home over the interstate, as he noticed the “vast number of street lights that were still using old, inefficient metal-halide technology.” As the nomination stated, “He is so passionate about LED technology. He goes above and beyond to educate customers on how the technology works and also tests and studies all types of LED brands.”

Zapata’s efforts have brought the company to offering full energy services company (ESCO) services with a slate of renewable energy solutions, from smart lighting and metering to solar energy, backup power systems, and more.

An alumnus of Florida Atlantic University and Broward College, Zapata continues to learn about integrating connected lighting for smart cities and renewable energy products that will reduce carbon footprint and deliver an improved experience for communities.
