LEDs Magazine 40 Under 40 Profile: Robert Dempsey

July 24, 2020
With six years building up the scenic lighting division at Environmental Lights, Robert Dempsey blends creativity with lighting technology to inject spaces with a unique energy.

With more than ten years of lighting experience in the scenic and film production industries, Robert “Rob” Dempsey has been instrumental in helping to pioneer the scenic division at Environmental Lights. In his six years with the company, he has developed and managed multiple accounts across North America.

Dempsey’s efforts in helping to create LED lighting installations that transcend environments around the world led to a management position, in which he has built a team of engineers whom he oversees and coaches to service the scenic industry exclusively. He has lived and worked in varied places such as Los Angeles, south Florida, Philadelphia, and San Diego; these diverse markets expanded his perspective on lighting and developed his approach to fully understand the customer’s creative vision.

Dempsey observes the unique characteristics and objectives of each project, blending technology and engineering to deliver innovative lighting effects. “Helping my clients with lighting gives me a sense of gratitude, knowing that I continue to transform conceptual ideas into tangible spaces that inject energy and enthusiasm into their audiences,” Dempsey commented.
