Welcome to the LEDs Magazine Horticultural Lighting Newsletter for Feb. 3, 2020. Back at the beginning of January, I explained our plans for 2020 newsletters, including the fact that we would distribute two horticultural newsletters each month. I guess I forgot to warn that we might send two in the space of four days. 😊
I could blame this second missive in less than a week on a Super Bowl hangover — only if it were true, it would be from Mucinex and Nyquil and not the good stuff. It was simply a quirky month schedule-wise that resulted in us not having more even spacing. We will make every effort to separate the deployments going forward.
That said, we do have a story for you about Fluence Bioengineering’s expansion into Europe and other markets east of the Atlantic. Of course, we’d suspect that parent company Munich-based Osram provided worthy guidance on the strategy. Fluence has already struck a key partnership with a larger cooperative.
Strategies in Light starts a week from tomorrow here in San Diego. We have a new concept Investor Forum and immersive workshops leading off Tuesday with a big networking reception Tuesday night in the exhibits.
A week from Wednesday we will have the first full conference day including a keynote/Plenary Session, followed by conference tracks, another networking reception, and then the Sapphire Awards capping the evening on the aircraft carrier Midway.
Thursday will bring more keynotes and a partial day of conference tracks. It’s an amazing learning opportunity over three days.
As I told you last week, we are already making plans for HortiCann 2020 and hope to have a keynote speaker to announce soon. The event will be in the heart of Silicon Valley at the San Jose, CA Doubletree. The venue is virtually walking distance from the airport for easy in and out. And the San Jose light rail can whisk you quickly into downtown San Jose — a surprisingly lively place.
