LEDs illuminate Eiffel Tower skating rink

Dec. 13, 2004
The latest Paris tourist attraction, an ice skating rink suspended 188 ft up the Eiffel Tower, features LED lighting to add to the ambience.
The rink is on a platform lodged between two of the tower's massive latticed steel legs, and can accommodate up to 80 skaters at a time. Entry is free to anyone who buys a standard ticket for the tower. The ice has been perfumed with a subtle blend of vanilla and pine, and is lit from beneath by 100 LED lights. These change the color of the ice without producing any heat to spoil the party.
