Lighting exec moves: Tridonic, Osram, Mitie, TCL, Norwell, Enlighted and Halco

Zumtobel's Tridonic appoints Felder CEO, Kirilmaz takes Felder's spot leading lighting sales at Osram, and other executive moves at lighting companies Mitie, TCL, Norwell, Enlighted, and Halco.

The dead of summer has proven an unusually busy period for executives making moves in lighting companies. Tridonic has appointed Alfred Felder to be its new CEO, while Osram veteran Erol Kirilmaz will takes Felder's place leading global lighting sales at Osram. Meanwhile, other lighting companies around the globe announced personnel moves.

New Tridonic CEO Alfred Felder

Zumtobel Group subsidiary Tridonic (Dornbirn, Austria) has named Alfred Felder as its new CEO with Felder slated to begin his duties on November 1, 2012. Felder will take the place of Walter Ziegler who left Tridonic back in January. Felder comes to Tridonic from Osram where he has been serving as senior vice president of global sales for Osram's lighting activities. Felder has experience in both the LED and OLED areas.

Tridonic is a manufacturer of control electronics for a broad range of light sources, lighting management systems, OLED modules and LED light engines.

Succeeding Felder at Osram is Erol Kirilmaz. Kirilmaz has been with Osram for more than 20 years, most recently heading Osram's business in the Latin America, the Middle East and Africa (LAMEA) regions.

"In Erol Kirilmaz, we have gained an absolute professional with many years of experience in international sales, particularly in very fast-growing developing countries around the world," said Klaus-Günter Vennemann, CEO of Osram's general lighting business unit.

Worrall retires from Mitie

In the UK, energy service company Mitie announced that Ray Worrall has retired from his post as operations director of the company's lighting business after more than 40 years with the outsourcing specialist. Worrall was instrumental earlier this year in Mitie rolling out the Lighting In Future Environments program where the company takes on long-term management of customers lighting systems. Worrall will continue to support the Mitie lighting team with technical consulting.

TCL Lighting GM

TCL Lighting, headquartered in Huizhou, China, has appointed Wim Meulders as general manager Europe. TCL manufactures residential, commercial, and specialty lighting products. Meulders will be based in Belgium.

Norwell sales manager

Moving to the US, specification-grade lighting products maker Norwell has appointed Gary Biarsky as western region sales manager. He will represent the Norwell, Ilex, and Davis Muller brands. Biarsky's career includes stints at Crystal Clear Industries and Murray Feiss Lighting. He will be based in Texas.

Enlighted adds controls expertise

Sunnyvale, California-based Enlighted has added Bruce Pelton and Jim Sekinger, both moving from controls-specialist Redwood Systems. "Bruce and Jim bring deep understanding and expertise in lighting and building systems to key roles in our organization," said Tushar Dave, chairman and CEO of Enlighted. "Enlighted is rapidly expanding to meet the needs of our customers and develop extensible solutions that drive more energy efficiency and operating savings in buildings. We are thrilled to have both Bruce and Jim on the team to further drive our leadership and momentum serving Fortune 500 customers." Pelton and Sekinger will lead new market strategies for Enlighted.

Halco OEM manager

Finally, Halco Lighting Technologies has appointed Mark Harris to the position of OEM/utility account manager. Most recently Harris worked for Havells-SLI Lighting and previously at Osram Sylvania.
