Acuity introduces RGB luminaires and new linear and outdoor fixtures

Winona's new Parata family can provide dynamic color effects while Peerless adds to its Mino family of direct ambient LED luminaires, and Winona announced the Blanca family for outdoor architectural lighting.

Acuity Brands has been especially active, considering the many recent Lightfair announcements, announcing new indoor and outdoor products across its Peerless and Winona brands. Moreover, the company has announced the Winona Parata RGB family that integrates red, green, and blue (RGB) LEDs to enable the product to deliver tunable white light or dynamic colors.

Acuity had privately demonstrated the Parata technology at Lightfair along with the Aera RGB concept and the white-point-tunable Gotham Evo downlights and the Mark Architectural Veil troffers. The Parata fixtures were hidden in a cove and used to provide indirect color accent lighting.

Parata RGB luminaires

The new Parata family includes products in linear-cove, flood, spot, and direct-linear configurations. "The Parata series was an opportunity to develop luminaires with unique RGB mixing solutions," said Patrick Brown, Winona senior product value stream manager. "The innovative RGB solutions add a selection of vibrant, full color that enhances lighting designs and creates greater design flexibility for a better quality lighting experience."

Control of the Parata fixtures is via RDX or Remote Device Management systems. Acuity has a touch screen control called Easy that can be used to simply commission the lighting or to create dynamic scenes.

Peerless Mino

The Peerless brand, meanwhile, has expanded its LED-based Mino family. The solid-state lighting (SSL) family has been upgraded with a high-transmission lens that enables system efficacy to hit 108 lm/W - a 15% increase. And the company added new 1×4- and 1×1-ft models.

The Mino design was inspired by modern abstract paintings and was the first LED-based product from the Peerless brand that has been known for architectural-specification-grade fluorescent fixtures. "After being recognized with a 2012 IES Progress Report selection and 2013 Next Generation Luminaires award, Peerless Mino has been a highly specified luminaire," said Peerless senior product manager Jennifer Butler. "With the roll-out of the new sizes, greater efficacy and warm white temperature option, architects and designers now have a more comprehensive and complementary collection of Peerless Mino LED luminaires with which to realize their lighting visions for offices, hotels, universities, healthcare facilities, retail environments, or other public spaces."

Winona Blanca

Blanca architectural SSL

Moving to the outdoor space, Winona has announced the Blanca 700 Series of spot, flood, linear-surface, and linear-cove lights. Available in a choice of 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K CCTs, the Blanca LED-based series targets applications such as lighting commercial building facades and landmarks.

"Blanca LED luminaires are designed to illuminate architectural features with a beautiful light quality to enhance aesthetics and details of the target feature," said Winona's Brown. "With four specific white LED color temperatures, we can provide color consistency across the BLANCA 700 series."
