Future launches new website for lighting community

Future Lighting Solutions has launched a new website dedicated to helping the lighting community develop solid-state lighting products using Luxeon LEDs.

Future Electronics has unveiled a new website for the lighting community, which provides detailed design and engineering information required to build successful solid-state lighting products using Luxeon power LEDs from Philips Lumileds.

Future Lighting Solutions, a division of Future Electronics, is the worldwide exclusive provider of Luxeon LEDs. The site provides information on power, thermal, optical and integration issues as well as tools, guides and information on Future's Certified Solutions Partner program, which has more than 50 members.

“Our objective with FutureLightingSolutions.com is to support the lighting community and help them successfully navigate through all the information and find answers that will help them build quality solutions and get them to market quickly,” said Lawrence Madanda, Director of Global Marketing.

“With the increasing market attention to technology solutions that will reduce energy needs and which are more environmentally friendly, there is a dramatic increase in the demand for LED lighting. However, to date, there have been few places for the engineering and design communities to turn to for comprehensive information. That problem is now solved with this new website.”

Future says that comparing and selecting the appropriate LEDs for a specific project is often the most difficult task for engineers. The Usable Light Tool on the website analyzes seven critical parameters and provides a comparison of competitive LEDs – although of course these are all Luxeon products.

Even so, the tool calculates the actual usable light expected from the LEDs under ‘real world’ operating conditions which are significantly different than those found on product datasheets.
