Future Lighting's new LED resource centers will help customers develop products using Luxeon LEDs.
Future Lighting Solutions, a division of Future Electronics, has unveiled two LED Lighting Resource Centers (LRCs) designed to assist customers to develop products using Luxeon LEDs from Philips Lumileds Lighting.

The facilities are located in Montreal, Canada (serving the Americas and Europe) and Shenzhen, China (serving Asia/Pac and Japan).

The LRCs serve two functions; first, there is a Luxeon Retrofit Lab, for proof of concept development, and technology validation in applications. Second, a Light Measurement Lab will undertake product measurement.

“The new LRCs provide expertise in every area of power LED engineering required for developing Luxeon-based applications,” said Jamie Singerman, corporate VP worldwide. “For those lighting companies that want to enter the market but don’t have the optical, thermal, power, systems and LED engineering knowledge in-house, the LRC can be of extraordinary value by reducing development costs and allowing companies to enter the LED lighting market more quickly.”

The LRCs provide five key services for customers developing lighting solutions: Luxeon proof of concept application development; custom electronics application development; optical design and simulation; secondary optics evaluation and characterization; and high-power LED characterization.

"This is a significant investment by Future Lighting Solutions," said Singerman. "It clearly demonstrates the commitment we have to enabling customers in their quest for better and simpler lighting solutions. It also demonstrates the faith we have in Luxeon technology to maintain its position as the clear leader in the industry."
