Permlight Products has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against GELcore, LLC in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. US patent no. 6,712,486, entitled "Mounting Arrangement for Light Emitting Diodes" US patent no. 6,578,986, entitled "Modular Mounting Arrangement and Method for Light Emitting Diodes" US patent no. 6,846,093, also entitled "Modular Mounting Arrangement and Method for Light Emitting Diodes"
The complaint requests damages and an injunction against infringement. GELcore is a joint venture between General Electric and Emcore.

The patents are related to Permlight's RL, SL, DL, DL2, DL3, DSL, PaletteLight, PaletteLight MINI, Twister and EL Blanco White LED product families.
