LED Asia zone highlights LED technology integration into lighting applications

From modest beginnings, the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition has evolved into Asia’s preeminent lighting exhibition. Just 20 years earlier, the fair premiered with a humble 96 Chinese exhibitors. The most recent edition in 2014 was evidence of respectable growth over the years as it hosted over 2,600 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions.

To celebrate such progressive development, it is time to gear up for the 20th anniversary to be held from 9 – 12 June 2015 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. This must-attend pivotal event for lighting industry experts will occupy 21 halls and span 225,000 sqm of exhibition space.

This edition is symbolically represented by the slogan “20th Onwards – Inspired & Be Inspired” which embodies the fair’s ongoing commitment to stay at the forefront of the global lighting industry. The fair will feature a complete range of forums and product presentations to encourage exchange of lighting designs and cutting-edge lighting technologies. These informational sessions facilitate industry convergence and networking for lighting businesses, making the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition an ideal breeding ground to inspire and be inspired by others.

Regarding the show’s outlook, Ms Lucia Wong, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Ltd, expressed: “We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the international and domestic lighting communities. With their support, the fair has achieved its ambitious aspiration of becoming the industry’s foremost platform for the exchange of market intelligence, technical innovations and ground-breaking designs in Asia. Over the last two decades, the growth of this fair has been in sync with the rapid development of the lighting industry in China. Moving forward, we will proactively continue to hoist the ability of the show to meet demands of the global lighting and LED industries. This celebration of 20 years not only represents the history of lighting, but also the constant evolution and future of lighting.”

One of the key focuses in the projected advancement of the lighting industry will be human-centric lighting, and a dominant source of that is LEDs. LED applications will transcend traditional energy-efficient serving and aesthetic purposes to integrate into users’ daily lives and revolutionise lighting technology. Intelligent lighting will become increasingly digitalised to enhance consumers’ wellbeing.

To remain in step with the industry, the 2015 show theme “Explore Lighting for Life” will showcase diversified intelligent lighting solutions aimed at maximising user comfort and minimising environmental impact. Moreover, complementary concurrent programmes will further emphasise light quality, sustainable options, human-centric lighting, wireless connectivity and much more.

LED Asia zone highlights LED technology integration into lighting applications

Solid-state lighting products and solutions are able to achieve increased appeal, interoperability and miniaturisation through changes in electrical, mechanical and optical LED design characteristics. Such development also enriches the possibilities lighting offers consumers, designers and the environment. Therefore, the integration and application of LED technologies into luminaire will be another key show focus in 2015. Accordingly, the themed LED Asia zone concept will be realised.

Ms Wong emphasised: “As the exhibition organiser, we always have on our finger on the pulse of the industry. At the moment, the LED and lighting industries are undergoing transitional change and consolidation. To facilitate this development, we have established the LED Asia zone that will showcase an array of LED technologies and solutions such as LED substrates, chips, engines, modules, drivers, controls, inspection and measurement equipment, encapsulation, sorting, thermal management and packaging, and much more. Our aim is to offer attendees a comprehensive view of LED technology, as well as create dialogue among the LED and lighting companies for future business collaboration.”

Another event not to be missed is the concurrently held Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology fair. Both fairs are headed by the biennial Light + Building event, which is scheduled to take place from 13 – 18 March 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany.
