TAKING AISLE LIGHTING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

LEDiL has allocated significant time and resources to create a range of innovative solutions for aisle lighting to ensure supermarket operators get the ’light that is right’ for their retail premises.

Aisle lighting is typically located in the middle of an aisle, ensuring evenly and efficiently distributed light on the shelves. The LEDiL aisle lighting concept includes linear luminaires for symmetric and asymmetric light distribution as well as track lights with reflectors and lenses.

LINEAR LUMINAIRES WITH SYMMETRIC LIGHT DISTRIBUTION

Symmetric light distribution delivers higher light levels on the floor to achieve needed light levels on the shelves. Lighting products on the shelves effectively may require 600–1000 lx but this is excessive for the floor, where 300–500 lx is sufficient. With symmetrical light distribution concept, the shelf lighting levels are typically only half compared to the floor. This excess light on the floor can lead to energy inefficiency and may also cause unpleasant glare.

LINEAR LUMINAIRES WITH ASYMMETRIC LIGHT DISTRIBUTION

Asymmetric vertical aisle optimized beams are more effective for vertical illumination and can deliver twice as much light to the shelves. Asymmetric beams will typically achieve 600–750 lx on the shelves and just 300 lx on the floor. Such efficiencies mean reduced glare and up to 35 % in energy savings compared to lighting concepts with a symmetrical light distribution, and most importantly of all, optimally highlighted products on the shelves.

TRACK LIGHTS WITH REFLECTORS

Aisle lighting does not always have to be linear. Track lighting offers a variety of advantages and uses. LEDiL reflectors for track lighting allow the possibility to deliver accent lighting to shelves, are easy to adjust for different aisle sizes and ensure low glare as there is no floor reflection; this is in fact, the ultimate in flexibility for aisle lighting.

TRACK LIGHTS WITH LENSES

Using lenses for track lighting is a trendy concept that delivers the same light output and illumination as traditional linear luminaires but in a more compact size, with longer spacing. The optics used, including wall washing beams, can be adjusted to potentially create lighting that has very low glare and focuses a high level of light on the shelves for more vertical illumination.
