Venture Lighting have partnered with Hertz Electrical Distribution to supply over 250 of its latest LED technology luminaires to one of the largest electrical management specialists in the UK. Two warehouses have been installed with Venture’s VLED Midibay Elite wide beam luminaires as an energy efficient alternative to the previous high-wattage lamps, whilst also benefiting from the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) programme.
Installed at 9m and 7m heights, the new lighting scheme replaced 270, 400w Highbay and 250w Lowbay metal halide fittings in the warehouses, saving them over 60% in energy costs. Supplied in 100w and 135w versions with a white gloss luminaire body, the VLED Midibay Elites are installed with Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) dimming controls and combined PIR and daylight sensors as a part of the company’s sustainable objectives.
The electrical management company specialises in electrical distribution and automation management as well as carrying out installations of components for energy management and has a great knowledge of energy saving technologies. The company was introduced to Venture Lighting by Hertz Electrical Distribution, a key solution partner to Venture.
The Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) technology, a lighting control protocol assisting the management of light and energy, determines the level of light delivered at a particular time or place by means of communication with the integral DALI CP sensors. Passive infrared occupancy sensors have been used in the warehouses to automatically detect activity and ensure that light is only provided where necessary. Similarly, the DALI controls combine with the daylight sensors to detect daylight levels and dim the lights depending on the amount of natural ambient light available.
Available in 67, 100, 135, 167 or 235 watts, the VLED Midibay Elites with DALI controls are high performance luminaires, producing 108 lumens per watt (lm/W) and a colour temperature of either 4000k or 5000k to replicate natural daylight. With a 50,000 hour life and 5 year warranty the luminaires require minimal maintenance thus avoiding unnecessary disruption to the work flow within the warehouse. The longevity of the LED array is also enhanced by the highly effective thermal properties of the luminaire design, preventing them from becoming inefficient through overheating which is an issue often overlooked with high power LED arrays.
Venture’s VLED Midibay Elites can be specified with a narrow or wide distribution and the option of clear or opal diffusers. The fittings can be surface mounted or suspended to provide lower level lighting making them particularly suitable for industrial lighting schemes, such as warehouses, where different levels of lighting are required across the building.
