Watchfire by Time-O-Matic plans significant expansion

Date Announced: 30 May 2007 -- Growth of digital billboard division, continued strong demand for on-premise LED signs drive expansionDANVILLE, Ill. -– Watchfire by Time-O-Matic Inc., a manufacturer of reliable and innovative on-premise LED signs and digital billboards, has contracted with Henneman Engineering, Inc. and Vermilion Development Corporation to finalize plans for a new, expanded headquarters and manufacturing facility.Watchfire anticipates the new facility will encompass 150,000 sq. ft. of office and manufacturing space. The greenfield project continues the focus on vertically integrated, tightly coupled manufacturing with efficient material flow. The smooth and quick-build integration of large digital billboards is a significant design goal. The project is in its second phase, with Henneman and Vermilion tasked with completion in the third quarter.Watchfire by Time-O-Matic currently owns or leases nearly 100,000 sq. ft. and employs 150 people in Danville, Ill. The company operates two shifts to meet the strong demand for its on-premise LED signs as well as demand in its new digital outdoor division. Its newest division, Watchfire Digital Outdoor, has sold nearly 20 billboards since March 2007. All Watchfire signs are designed and built at the current Danville headquarters.“We have seen strong acceptance of our new digital billboard products and we anticipate this part of our business will continue to grow as advertisers and outdoor companies realize the many benefits digital billboards offer,” said David Wood, president of Watchfire by Time-O-Matic. “At the same time, our on-premise LED sign business continues to expand, making additional space a necessity in the coming years.”The engineering and design phase of the expansion plan will last for approximately 90 days.
