Date Announced: 05 Dec 2007 London based Design International worked with Corio property investors to create a fantastic new centre in Campania, Italy. The shopping centre boasts some of the best named brands in Italian fashion and therefore the best LED lighting was required to project the centre's quality image. Lighting Designer Neil Skinner came to Solar for their experience in high power LED lighting products coupled with their bespoke design service. Solar have shown great expertise in handling and consulting on large projects and so it was only natural they would be ideal for this project.The brief was to make an impact which could be subtly changed from a central lighting control point. The stunning effects produced accentuated architecture and created a warm and modern feel for shoppers.Over 10,000 LEDs helped to create the perfect shopping ambience. These were housed in a range of fittings including Solar’s M200 floodlights, L80 modules, L Series linear wall washes and M50 up and down lighters.These fittings helped to illuminate the glass cupulas, ceilings and elevator shaft with a wash of dynamic colour. M200 flood lights were also used by the centre entrances to maximise the exterior impact of the building. The food court area mixed white, warm white and amber LEDs to provide varying temperatures up-lighting decorative trees.Design International’s chief executive Davide Padoa, together with project architect Daniela Ziglioli and Neil Skinner could not be happier with the final results. The success of the project was apparent on the opening night when Mr. Antonio Bassolino President of the Campania region formally opened the centre. Over 1000 VIP guests attended enjoying the live band performance and lighting show. Following the successful opening night the centre was full of keen shoppers the next day. Solar’s expertise in LED lighting paid off to create a spectacular finish to the centre.
