Mitsubishi Electric shows Arsenal fans a good time

Dec. 17, 2007
Date Announced: 17 Dec 2007 International stadium screen consultant, DisplayLED Screens Ltd., has just completed installation of its latest high-tech addition to Arsenal Football Club's state-of-the-art Emirates Stadium. The company has installed two Mitsubishi Electric LED screens at the Gunners' new north London stadium to act as giant digital clocks showing game timings, animations and promotional messages. Installed on the half-way line on both sides of the pitch, the new digital clocks consist of 0.8m high x 3.2m long, 12mm pixel pitch Diamond Vision LED screen modules, delivering a total resolution of 64 x 256 pixels (6400 dots per square meter). Mounted in specially designed weatherproof modules, the clocks use the same type of Diamond Vision LED modules as the two main video screens sited at the north-west and south-east corners of the stadium, also supplied by DisplayLED. The main Diamond Vision screens have attracted considerable praise for their high-quality images, and the two latest additions to the stadium's display system are designed to perform to the same exacting standards of colour reproduction, viewing angle and contrast. Employing the same LED modules as the main screen system means the ground staff are already familiar with the technology and its operation, and that spares and tooling inventory can be kept to a minimum. Diamond Vision AVL-OD12 was chosen as the screen technology for the state-of-the-art 60,000-seat Emirates Stadium after an exhaustive evaluation of every similar product on the market. Ensuring the chosen system was the most advanced technology, capable of delivering the best possible image quality was a top priority, as Stadium Manager John Beattie relates: "Working with DisplayLED, we literally travelled the world looking at screens from all the top manufacturers. The Diamond Vision system was the last one we saw and when we did, we knew straight away it was the system for us." The combination of superb image quality, unequalled reliability and the backing of one of the world's largest engineering businesses made an extremely compelling case in favour of Diamond Vision. Arsenal's OD12 screens are 12m wide by 6m tall and used to show a fast-paced mixture of team information, statistics, match analysis and announcements, originating from Arsenal's in-house production suite in native HD format. As an integral part of the overall entertainment experience, the Emirates' Diamond Vision screen has proved a huge success with the club and its fans. Mitsubishi Electric has been associated with stadium and landmark video screens since the very birth of big screen technology nearly 30 years ago. Mitsubishi's long history and experience with the manufacture, installation and use of these systems gives the company a unique knowledge-base, all of which has been incorporated into its latest range of Diamond Vision screens.
