Changelight qualifies red LED in record time with Aixtron MOCVD systems

Date Announced: 26 Jun 2007 Aachen, Germany, June 26, 2007 - Xiamen Changelight Co., Ltd., a new ambitious China-based developer and manufacturer of high brightness LEDs, has started mass production of red LEDs using its AIX 2600G3 multiwafer MOCVD Planetary Reactor systems within only two weeks following installation. A third AIXTRON MOCVD system has just been installed.Changelight was founded in February 2006 by President Deng Dian Ming. The two first MOCVD systems were installed with 49x2 inch and 12x4 inch configuration end of last year. A third AIX 2600G3 system was delivered early in the second quarter of 2007.President Deng Dian Ming comments: “Changelight managed to ramp up full LED manufacturing within less than one year from its foundation. This impressive result is also based on the excellent support provided by AIXTRON supplying the key technology. We look forward to a further expansion of our capacity for LEDs with the third MOCVD system which is now ready for operation within such a short time. AIXTRON is providing an excellent, comprehensive support and service, which is confirmed by the trouble-free installation and ramp-up in due course of all three systems.”Professor Wang Xiangwu, Vice President Technology at Changelight adds: "We have been very impressed with the rapid installation and commissioning of our first two MOCVD tools. Only two weeks after installation we took over the reactors and start the mass production of red LEDs with yielding 120 mcd. This is already a commercial quality product within our target specification."
