Date Announced: 08 Nov 2007 Rotterdam, The Netherlands -– On October 23rd 2007, the historic City Hall of Antwerp, Belgium, was reopened. LED lighting plays a key role in this new shopping mall. The contemporary interior design and the innovative LED lighting technology make up a perfect good match, combining tradition and modernity.On the centre of the facade inside the city hall, a uniquely designed wall of various sized mirror panels is one of the most conspicuous art objects of this prestigious project. This masterpiece was designed by HAR Hollands and Studio Maramoja, and is composed of specially designed mirror wall profiles, diverse sized steel frames, and tailor-made laminated mirrored glass for optimal transmission of light. The mirror tiles fit seamlessly on the steel frame by rest on silicone profiles. Over 800 pieces of Traxon Technologies’ 16 pixel Modules with 16 individually addressable LEDs light up the inside of the frames. These modules provide a total of 12,960 pixels to be controlled by i.e. 81 DMX universe channels utilizing Traxon Technologies’ Light Management System. The programming of the light animations has been done by Smartworks. The resulting size of the mirror wall area is about 200 square meters, and visually about 50 square meters, enabling the creation of splendid light animations. The total art object weighs about 2,200 kg, equal to the weight of a big size SUV.Besides the 50 apartments and the 275 underground parking places, the so-called “Stadsfeestzaal” contains 40 shops of international fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters, Salsa, Sabon and Nike, and retails chains like Bart Smit, Ici Paris XL, Delhaize, Blokker, etc. The total area of shopping space is of 20,500 sq.m.About TraxonTraxon Technologies is a leading provider of controllable LED lighting systems with major offices and certified specialists around the world.
