Date Announced: 22 Nov 2007 Aachen/Germany -– AIXTRON AG is pleased to announce the first order for its new AIX 2800G4-R MOCVD reactor from Arima Optoelectronics in Taiwan. The AIX 2800G4-R system will be installed at Arima’s state-of-the-art cleanrooms in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Arima will qualify the system for high volume production of AlGaInP based ultra-high brightness red / orange / yellow light emitting diodes (UHB-LEDs).AIXTRON’s latest AIX 2800G4-R MOCVD tool is especially designed for high throughput production of AlGaInP based devices. It is equipped with an automated wafer handler to provide the highest throughput at lowest cost per wafer with a capacity of 60x2 inch or 15x4 inch. The system is geared towards maximized throughput and uptime with several innovative aspects. It is expected to set a new standard for AlGaInP LED production.Arima’s president, Dr. P.J. Wang, commented: “We are looking very much forward to receiving this new machine for the production of our UHB LEDs. Its new features will provide us with large production capacity at a high number of runs per day and the implemented design innovations will optimize the uptime for AlGaInP, a very demanding material system in MOCVD. Arima staff will therefore once again work closely with AIXTRON engineers to rapidly qualify the system in high volume mass production.”Arima Optoelectronics Corporation (AOC) was founded in September 1998 in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Based on MOCVD technology it mass produces UHB LEDs and lasers in dice and epitaxial wafer form. Its philosophy is to stay two steps ahead and achieves this is by employing only equipment of the highest standard. As a result AOC has rapidly become a primary supplier to many of the world’s LED manufacturers.
