Date Announced: 04 Jan 2007 -- World’s Largest Capacity Planetary Reactor System ready for Nitride Production at Customer Site in AsiaAachen, Germany – The world’s largest capacity MOCVD system for Nitride production, the new AIXTRON 42x2 inch AIX 2800G4 Planetary Reactor system is now operational at one of AIXTRON’s long-term customers.This system was signed off within only a few weeks from delivery. It has already been put into production and the customer is very satisfied with its performance. In fact, thanks to the new AIXTRON Yield-Plus features it is performing even better than previous systems.Dr. Bernd Schulte, AIXTRON’s Executive Vice President, COO says: "It has been very satisfying that the launch customer for the AIX 2800G4 mass production system has been able to reach acceptance so quickly after delivery. It confirms that AIXTRON’s technology provides the performance enhancements customers are seeking in today’s high brightness LED marketplace."The new AIX 2800G4 Planetary Reactor system is AIXTRON's latest MOCVD (metallorganic chemical vapour deposition) development and has the largest capacity (42x2 inch for Nitride production) commercially available, offering more than double the capacity of all competing models. Developed in-house, the reactor was a response to customer demand for even larger single-run capabilities for the cost-effective production of UHB-LEDs. The reactor design is based on AIXTRON’s ‘Integrated Concept’ (IC) including a redesign of most of the components of the reactor system as well as the reactor cell itself. Key features include a compact footprint, improved maintenance, easier operation and handling, improved reliability and reproducibility compared with previous reactors.The term Planetary Reactor® is a registered trademark.
