Somerset, NJ – Philips Lighting Company, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI), today announced the introduction of a low bay LED luminaire designed for use in applications where widely distributed, glare-free white light is required. The new Luminaire's clean design and optics provide excellent visibility and has the benefit of improving safety, and enhances the appearance of any facility while reducing energy use by up to 50%. In addition to the significant energy savings LEDs can offer over older, existing technologies LEDs provide an instant on-off capability that could be used with activity sensors. The new Low low bay LED luminaires can be used in factories and production facilities, as well as parking garages, warehouses, gymnasiums and hangars.
This new Philips low bay LED luminaire features long-life and energy efficiency in an easy-to-install, simple format that doesn't require special wiring or ballast. Designed with energy savings in mind, the luminaire also provides cool white light and high color rendering - all the traits necessary for good visibility. LEDs in this luminaire have an average rated life of 50,000 hours, more than twice the life of the metal halide lamps commonly used in typical low bay applications. In addition to the 50% energy savings, there is less maintenance cost associated with luminaire and less heat generated than in existing metal halide luminaires.
