Harvard Engineering says the need to switch off lights has been dimmed

Feb. 3, 2010
Date Announced: 03 Feb 2010 Harvard Engineering plc, a world leader in the design and manufacture of electronic ballasts and control products for the lighting industry has launched one of the world’s first Dali-dimmable LED drivers at the Arc Show 2010 in London. The Dali dimmable driver delivers unprecedented flexibility as it now provides retailers and other users with full dimming capabilities, something that has not previously been possible with HID lighting solutions. The launch of the new driver not only means that companies using LED lighting applications will be able to save money on energy bills by dimming their LED lights, but they will also be able to cut their carbon emissions even further. In addition, the ability to dim LED lights between 100% to 1% will give users like retailers or hotels, the opportunity to set lighting levels for different ambients and displays, thereby maximising their investments. The CoolLED Dali Driver is the same form factor as the standard CoolLED product, which means that it will fit through a 42mm down light cut out. It is also small enough to be installed into track spotlight designs. All this means that companies will be able to cleverly and easily up-date their LED lighting installations without having to make major investments in building works to accommodate the use of the new driver. The product signifies yet another breakthrough for Harvard Engineering and re-emphasises the company’s commitment to developing environmentally friendly leading-edge solutions. To coincide with the launch of its new Dali dimmable driver, Harvard has also launched a Universal driver, which has a Universal input voltage range (nominal 100-277V) and allows the product to be used anywhere in the world. The Harvard Dali Driver is the first in a range of LED drivers that the company is planning to launch in the first half of 2010. “Our highly qualified research and development team is constantly looking at ways to enhance ballast technology, particularly when it comes to delivering energy efficiency and controlability. And our new Dali dimmable driver strengthens this philosophy,“ said Michael McDonnell, Harvard Engineering’s sales and marketing director.About Harvard Engineering PLCEstablished in 1993, Harvard Engineering plc. Based in Leeds, has grown from a small niche player to a world leader in the design and manufacture of electronic ballasts and control gear.
