mSilica demonstrates MSL316X backlight LED driver at Display Week

May 27, 2010
Date Announced: 27 May 2010 mSilica will, for the first time, display its intelligent LED driver integrated circuits at Display Week 2010 — the 48th annual SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition — held May 23 – 28 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Wash. During the exhibition (May 23-25), mSilica will be featuring the MSL316X family of intelligent LED drivers for LCD monitors and televisions. Each MSL316X drives 16 LED strings with internal current sinks rated at 75mA and up to 12 LEDs per string in a tiny 6x6 mm2 QFN package. The MSL316X patented architecture enables over 10% higher system efficiency and 10M:1 dynamic contrast while eliminating motion blur in direct backlit TVs. With excellent ESD performance, comprehensive monitoring and a whopping 40% reduction in bill-of-material cost, the MSL316X has enabled some of the slimmest and highest performance direct backlit TVs and monitors in the market. “Having a booth at the Display Week Expo is a milestone for mSilica,” said Tushar Dhayagude, co-founder and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at mSilica, “We now have more than a dozen exciting products for LCD backlighting and intelligent solid-state lighting in mass production with leading LCD TV and monitor OEMs. We see Display Week as an excellent way to introduce them to a larger set of customers.” “We are pleased to welcome and provide opportunity for new and exciting technology companies, like mSilica, to exhibit their novel products at Display Week's expo,” said Dr. Munisamy Anandan, the Incoming President for The Society for Information Display. “LED backlighting is playing a key role in enhancing the quality of images on LCD screens, coupled with power savings and long life. mSilica’s intelligent LED driver system is a boost for large-size LCD televisions.” mSilica will be demonstrating its products in booth #636 on the main floor of the expo. Besides demonstrations of the MSL316X family, the company will also have on-hand demonstrations of their products for smaller form factor displays for industrial and portable computing applications, as well as products for solid-state lighting for commercial, residential and governmental applications.
