April 19, 2010
Date Announced: 19 Apr 2010 BROOKINGS, S.D. – April 19, 2010 – Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that Bradley University has asked the company to design, manufacture and install an integrated display system overlooking the school’s home court in the new Athletics Performance Center Arena on its campus in Peoria, Ill.The focal point of the Bradley Braves’ new system will consist of six Daktronics light emitting diode (LED) video displays to be installed above the stands in the arena. Along with new LED scorer’s tables, these high-resolution displays will deliver replays, game information and sponsor messages to the crowds cheering on the Braves in Peoria. Daktronics is partnering with XOS Digital, Inc., a national leader in digital sports media co-headquartered in Orlando and Boston, for the facility project. While Daktronics will integrate Bradley’s new video displays and scorer’s tables into a complete content and delivery system overhaul, XOS Digital will focus on integrating an HD/SD broadcast control room to power these new technologies within the school’s over-4,000-seat Athletic Performance Center Arena, as well as a variety of other output sources.“This is an important step in our digital media evolution,” said Dr. Michael Cross, Director of Athletics at Bradley University. “The new displays and their control equipment represent a strategic investment that will bring an enhanced spectator experience to our loyal fans, media partners and sponsors. We look forward to creating high-quality productions that will provide corporate sponsors the brand recognition and return on investment they are seeking, while making the fan experience both visceral and memorable.”The two displays on the north and south ends of the new arena will measure approximately 11 feet high and 18 feet wide, while the four displays mounted on the east and west walls – two on each end – will measure approximately 3 feet high and 13 feet wide. All six will use the latest in Daktronics display technology to keep every fan in the game.“For our portion of this project, we integrated a wide variety of the latest digital technologies to create the best possible workflow for Bradley Athletics staff,” said Mark Hudgins, president of XOS Integrated Solutions Group. “A significant aspect of our work involved the integration of a complete broadcast control room, which leveraged our depth of engineering knowledge and control room experience to produce an effective and efficient workflow for Bradley University. By teaming up with Daktronics, another industry leader, our combined results for this project will provide Bradley University with a way to bring even more value to its fans’ experiences.”To keep those fans entertained, Bradley University has enlisted the help of Keyframe, Daktronics’ creative services division. Keyframe will create engaging content for the Braves’ new displays and ensure the patrons in the Athletics Performance Center never experience a dull timeout or quarter break.“The Bradley University Athletics Performance Center will provide increased excitement and create an immediate impact for the fans next season,” said Joey Hulsebus, Daktronics Sales. “Daktronics is very excited to work with the university, the architects from PSA Dewberry and XOS Digital’s entire staff to assist in creating the ‘wow’ factor. This group has been exceptional to work with, and we look forward to opening day 2010.” Five sections of Daktronics digital LED scorer’s tables will utilize the same technology as the wall displays and give the university’s athletic sponsors an additional medium for their messages in the new facility. Because the tables are digital, Bradley University organizations, athletic squads and advertisers will have virtually unlimited options for displaying their dynamic information. In addition, Daktronics is providing Bradley University with a completely updated scoring display system. New custom scoreboards, shot clocks, backboard light strips and time of day clocks are all heading to Peoria. These additions will also utilize industry-proven Daktronics LED technology and provide a no-stress scoring solution to athletics staff for years to come.About the Athletics Performance CenterAfter years of careful planning and preparation, “The Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance” has started to brighten the Bradley University campus. Starting next season, the Braves women’s basketball and volleyball teams will call the new Athletics Performance Center home.
