Three new product families - Lirio by Philips, Arcitone and Ledino - each enable consumers to express themselves by applying the design flexibility of LED lighting with bold new forms, materials and finishes.Creating livable citiesAs increased urbanization presents new challenges for cities to provide more livable urban environments, Philips is to drive the appeal of LED in outdoor lighting to help cities improve road and pedestrian safety, reduce night-time light disturbance and make significant energy savings.During 2010 Philips will introduce a new range of outdoor luminaires - CitySoul, CitySpirit, MileWide and StreetStar - all built around LEDGINE, a future-proofed and fully upgradable platform for outdoor luminaires to maintain pace with progressive improvements in LED technologies.Philips is also exploring the potential of applying LED to help 'declutter' city streets increasingly obscured by a variety of elements, including lighting fixtures. Visitors to Light + Building will be able to see a number of proof-of-concept demonstrations in new street lighting designs, including advanced new LED luminaires which rendering lighting virtually invisible during the day, but still ensure bright, white light at night.Breakthrough in LED lampsWith legislation to phase out older, inefficient lighting technologies increasing demand for replacement light sources, Philips is to introduce the first ever high-quality 60 watt-equivalent LED replacement lamp. To be launched commercially towards the end of 2010, the dimmable 12-watt bulb will deliver an industry benchmark 806 lumens of comfortable, warm white light, complying fully with European performance norms for replacement lamps. For businesses such as hotels, replacing high concentrations of 60 watt lamps with Philips' LED replacement solution will potentially help them save up to 80% of the energy used by older technologies, potentially saving a business over Eur 20 per lamp, per year, with lower maintenance costs due to 25,000-hour lifetime. Philips will introduce the 60 watt-equivalent lamp globally within its MASTER LEDlamps range towards the end of 2010, with initial availability in professional sales channels.Visit www.philips.com/lightandbuilding for more information.
