LED Source makes its television debut

Oct. 13, 2010
Date Announced: 13 Oct 2010 Wellington, Fla. — LED Source, a national and international supplier of LED lighting that specializes in full-scale evaluations and retrofits, will lend a hand to a new national television series called “The Vanilla Ice Project.” Premiering Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. E.S.T. on the DIY Network, the show is hosted by Robert Van Winkle, also known as Vanilla Ice. In the first episode, Van Winkle remodels a foreclosed home in Palm Beach, Fla., in which LED Source supplies LED EcoSense MiniFloods for all exterior lighting. The EcoSense product, like all other products carried by LED Source, delivers many benefits, including energy savings of up to 90 percent and a superior quality and color of light. Additionally, since LEDs create nearly zero heat, they tend to last much longer than standard light fixtures. EcoSense MiniFloods, for example, can last between 10 to 12 years. Van Winkle was so impressed by the LEDs provided by LED Source that he’s decided to install them in his own home as well.“It’s great to receive recognition through a national television series. Many people are unaware of the tremendous benefits of using LED lights, and this exposure will help spread awareness,” said president and CEO Marcel Fairbairn. LED lighting is the most energy-efficient lighting solution currently available that is both fiscally smart and ecologically sound. LED lights are mercury and toxin-free, 300 percent more energy-efficient than compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) and about 1,000 percent more efficient than incandescent bulbs while using up to 90 percent less energy to run.Market tracker Strategies Unlimited predicts global sales of general-purpose LEDs will triple to $14.9 billion in 2013 from $5.1 billion in 2008, a compound annual growth rate of 24 percent. The implementation of LED lighting is beneficial to both residential and commercial properties alike. A report by Pike Research released in July said, “If all the commercial buildings in the U.S. that exist as of 2010 were retrofitted to be more energy efficient, the country as a whole would save over $41.1 billion a year in energy bills.” Other motivations include the federal tax incentives and local utility rebates—which can cover anywhere between 30 percent and 100 percent of the cost of LED lighting.####About LED SourceFounded in August 2005 by Marcel Fairbairn, a veteran of the automated lighting industry, and Gavin Cooper who relocated to the USA from a UK based LED Manufacturer, LED Source is a national and international supplier of LED lighting that specializes in full-scale evaluations and retrofits through its Retrofit Division in addition to providing consultation all the way through to supply on new projects within their Architectural and Entertainment Divisions.
