Toshiba Electronics launches high-speed 16-channel constant current LED drivers with wide, high accuracy outputs

Oct. 7, 2010
Date Announced: 07 Oct 2010 Drivers feature ±1.5% accuracy, data transfer rates of 25MHz and enable pulse widths of just 25nsDüsseldorf, Germany, 5th October, 2010 – Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has launched two new LED drivers that deliver highly accurate constant currents of between 1.5mA and 90mA and offer high-speed serial data transfer rates up to 25MHz. The 16-channel TC62D748 and TC62D749 are ideal for high accuracy control of LED modules and LED displays built around multiple LED strings. The two new drivers are rated for output voltages up to 17V and operate from a supply voltage of between 3.0V and 5.5V. Output current accuracy from channel-to-channel and IC-to-IC is ±1.5%, making the new drivers at least twice as accurate as many competitive products. This allows for accurately controlled and consistent LED brightness across large multi-colour LED displays.About ToshibaToshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) is the European electronic components business of Toshiba Corporation, which is ranked among the world’s largest semiconductor vendors. TEE offers one of the industry's broadest IC and discrete product lines including high-end memory, microcontrollers, ASICs, ASSPs and display products for automotive, multimedia, industrial, telecoms and networking applications. The company also has a wide range of power semiconductor solutions. TEE was formed in 1973 in Neuss, Germany, providing design, manufacturing, marketing and sales and now has headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, with subsidiaries in France, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. TEE employs approximately 300 people in Europe. Company president is Mr. Hitoshi Otsuka.Toshiba Corporation is a world leader and innovator in pioneering high technology, a diversified manufacturer and marketer of advanced electronic and electrical products spanning information & communications systems; digital consumer products; electronic devices and components; power systems, including nuclear energy; industrial and social infrastructure systems; and home appliances. Founded in 1875, Toshiba today operates a global network of more than 740 companies, with 204,000 employees worldwide and annual sales surpassing US$68 billion. For more company information visit Toshiba's web site at on Toshiba’s advanced CDMOS technology, the new devices deliver very high-speed operation. Minimum enable pulse width (TwOE) is just 25ns and typical output fall time (Tof) is 10ns. The TC62D748 has a typical output rise time (Tor) of 30ns, while the ‘high speed’ TC62D749 has a typical Tor of just 10ns. Toshiba’s new LED driver ICs comprise a constant current output circuit of 16 channels. Output current for the 16 outputs can be set by a single external resistance. Control data format is ‘serial in, parallel out’ and CMOS-compatible interfaces allow for Schmitt trigger input voltage levels of 3.3V and 5.0V. A power-on-reset function resets internal data when power is applied to the device. The ICs are available in two styles of 24-pin SSOP packages with respective dimensions of 13.5mm x 6.0mm x 1.9mm and 8.7mm x 4.0mm x 1.7mm.###
