Recolight grows membership by 20%

Oct. 1, 2010
Date Announced: 01 Oct 2010 Recolight has grown its number of producer members by more than 20% so far this year following an active recruitment campaign. Recolight Membership Development Manager, Frank Craven, commented; “One of our objectives in 2010 has been to target potential new members, particularly producers in developing areas such as LEDs. “This recruitment campaign has been very successful. I think potential new members look at the quality and scale of the recycling service we offer to their customers, and the benefits that Recolight can provide, and are very impressed. We can also demonstrate through the findings of our regular members’ surveys that our existing members are very satisfied. This also encourages and reassures potential new joiners.”Accounts for the not-for-profit compliance scheme, filed this month, also show a successful year in 2009. Revenues were £8.1 million, slightly down from £8.2 million in 2008. Accruals and deferred income were £12.1million (up from £8.7 million in 2008). Recolight Chief Executive Nigel Harvey commented; “Recolight’s financial strength means we are excellently placed to handle the expected increase in the number of lamps which will need to be recycled in future years. The volume of lamps reaching end-of-life will increase significantly over the next few years and we need to be ready. Furthermore, the Environment Agencies require Producer Compliance Schemes to have access to sufficient funds to finance the required recycling over three years. We are pleased that we meet this requirement.”
