Date Announced: 08 Jun 2010 Organisers of a seminar designed to shed light on the issue of LED measurement have described the response as ‘overwhelming’.Konica Minolta Sensing joined forces with the Photonics and Plastics KTN, Pro-Lite Technology and the Photonics Cluster to host the seminar, called ‘LEDs and SSL – Metrology, Metrics and Standards’, at the Birmingham Science Park.More than 50 delegates attended the day-long event, which featured eight presentations from leading industry figures on the current issues relating to the light & display industry. It focused primarily on the current UK standards and the measuring equipment & facilities available to all industry members across the country.Konica Minolta Sensing Marketing Executive Philip Dodds said: “It was a great day and the positive feedback from delegates and presenters has been overwhelming.“Most appreciated the opportunity to hear from industry leaders like Dr. Paul Miller from the NPL, and the panel discussion, which enabled them to cover the issues in much greater detail.“The response has encouraged us to start planning the next seminar, which will take place in October.”Subjects ranged from “Setting Standards for Solid-State Lighting Metrology”, by Dr. Miller, through to “The Luminaire Developer’s Perspective”, presented by Peter Thorns from Thorn Lighting. The event also offered delegates an opportunity to see the full range of Konica Minolta Sensing light and display measurement equipment, including the CS-2000A, a spectroradiometer with the world’s top level performance for analyzing extremely low luminances. The CS-2000A, which boasts a 100,000:1 contrast measurement capability, will be demonstrated at the upcoming EuroLED exhibition in Coventry at the Ricoh Arena on the 9th & 10th June. Konica Minolta Sensing will be on stand LED310. To register for the event go to www.euroled.org.uk. If you wish to receive more information on the next seminar, contact us at [email protected].
