Date Announced: 14 Sep 2010 Six months since moving into the ultra green No.1 Nottingham Science Park, energy efficient lighting company LEDinlight is set to grow and create three new jobs.The expanding company, which currently employs four people, moved into a 1,500 sq ft ground floor suite in the award-winning building in March, giving it room to expand.Since then the company has been working on a number of new projects and will be exhibiting at a major green energy event in Abu Dhabi in the autumn.The products LEDinlight are producing are up to 80 percent energy efficient, maintenance free, and do not contain any hazardous components such as mercury.New products include a panel for suspended ceilings, a retrofit kit to change ordinary fluorescent lights to LEDs, and a replacement for fluorescent tubes with safe end connectors. In the last three weeks, the team has also been working on a kit that can be mounted into ordinary light fittings, which is being installed on a Nottingham site. Eva Ottosson, managing director of LEDinlight, said being at the Science Park had helped LEDinlight develop a working relationship with the University of Nottingham, which is nearby, and they are currently developing a new sensor lighting system with university researchers. The firm is set to be accredited by the Carbon Trust Footprinting Company, by showing it is reducing the carbon emissions of its products. The company is taking part in the World Green Tourism exhibition in Abu Dhabi in November. The three-day event brings together regional and international tourism authorities, urban city planners, property developers, green products suppliers and other bodies involved in sustainable tourism. The business expansion is brilliant news, and we hope they stay with us for many years to come.” No.1 Nottingham Science Park was built by sustainable developer Blueprint to create a community of innovative businesses combining self contained Grade A space with the opportunity of “clustering” with other progressive businesses in the same building, close to the University of Nottingham.It is part of Blueprint’s £50 million extension to the Nottingham Science Park off University Boulevard.Partners in Blueprint’s Nottingham Science Park extension included emda, Nottingham City Council and Greater Nottingham Partnership, and the project was part financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The boardwalk was part financed by emda as public realm.
