Digital Lumens receives Lighting Facts label and DesignLights certification

Aug. 10, 2010
Date Announced: 10 Aug 2010 Boston, Mass., August 10, 2010 – Digital Lumens today announced that its Intelligent Lighting System™ has received two additional industry standard certifications, the Lighting FactsCM Label and the DesignLights™ Consortium (DLC) designation for the Highbay and Lowbay fixtures for Commercial and Industrial buildings category. Just last month the company announced that its system was the first product to be approved by the DLC in the Highbay Aisle category.Lighting Facts showcases LED luminaire manufacturers committed to testing products and reporting performance results according to industry standards to assure and improve the quality of LED lighting products. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Lighting Facts label provides customers with information essential to evaluating products and identifying the best options. Participation is open to those who manufacture, sell and recommend the best in LED lighting.Addressing product categories not currently covered by the DOE’s Energy Star™ program, the DLC’s Qualified Products List (QPL) serves as a reference guide by participating utilities when considering industrial and commercial customers’ applications for utility rebates. By providing a rigorous set of evaluation criteria for prospective vendors, the DLC ensures that high-quality, energy-efficient lighting becomes commonplace in all areas of the commercial lighting market. This second certification indicates another suitable application for the company's products.“Efforts led by the DLC and DOE ensure a high set of industry standards for solid-state lighting, and we’re delighted to be included among the lists of newly certified products,” said Brian Chemel, Chief Technology Officer, Digital Lumens. “We set out to develop an Intelligent Lighting System that would offer large facilities dramatic sustainability and financial benefits – up to 90% reduction in energy usage and costs. We’re pleased that our customers have open access to the measured quality and efficiency of our certified products.”Designed for large warehouses and industrial facilities, the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System integrates LEDs, sensors, networking and software into a single solution that leverages system-wide intelligence to reduce customers’ energy costs. Introduced earlier this year and deployed in multiple sites, the system includes the Intelligent Light Engine (ILE), a high-performance, highbay LED-based fixture that has a broad range of control and dimming capabilities, and which was a ‘recognized winner’ in the Department of Energy’s Next Generation Luminaire competition. The ILEs form a wireless mesh network and the system collects detailed energy consumption and occupancy details, enabling facilities managers and engineers to refine the lighting program and further reduce energy use.About Digital LumensDigital Lumens develops LED-based Intelligent Lighting Systems that reduce industrial customers’ electricity expenses up to 90% and transform industrial lighting into a powerful platform for improved control, efficiency, and operational insight. Incorporating intelligent local and centralized controls, sensors, and custom-designed LED-based luminaires into a single system, Digital Lumens is defining a new class of lighting solution for customers.
