LBT technology to be displayed at Light+Building 2010

March 17, 2010
Date Announced: 17 Mar 2010 Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada -- Light-Based Technologies Inc. and Elpro Lichttechnik GMBH, of Arnsberg Germany, have partnered in order to display what they claim will be the best dimming LED light fixture at Light+Building 2010, the world’s largest lighting trade show. This fixture will highlight Light-Based Technologies’ smooth and energy efficient dimming technology, in addition to Elpro’s outstanding design abilities that emphasize both quality and functionality. The fixture to be unveiled is called the Gamma. The Gamma line incorporates the BXRA-W3000 Warm White, High Color Rendering LED Array from Bridgelux Inc, capable of producing 3000 lumens with 50 Watts of power. The unit will be displayed in Elpro’s Booth (A61) in Hall 3.1, of the Light+Building 2010 Trade Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. The Gamma, operating with a conventional triac (phase-cut) dimmer switch, will demonstrate flicker free and superior energy-efficiency performance over the whole 0 to 100 per cent dimming range. Both companies view this as a great step forward in providing the quality of light and ease of control that lighting designers and discerning customers demand.LED technology has advanced to the point where sufficient light output is no longer an issue. Challenges now lie in delivering high quality control, aesthetics and thermal management, cost-competitively with conventional lighting solutions. “Elpro and LBT are uniquely qualified to deliver these features, and have done an excellent job with the Gamma,” said Horst Wiegelmann, Executive Director of Elpro.Light+Building, held every two years, runs from April 11th to the 16th. Since its inception in 2000 Light+Building has grown to be recognized as the world’s premier lighting event. When last held in 2008, it hosted over 2,000 exhibitors while welcoming more than 167,000 visitors. “Light+Building forms the perfect backdrop for the unveiling of the Gamma and will certainly garner plenty of interest for both the product itself, and the companies involved in its creation,” said Jeanette Jackson, CEO of Light-Based Technologies.ABOUT Elpro LichttechnikElpro, formed in 1998, is located in Arnsberg, Germany, a region long known for its lighting companies.
