OSRAM shows the future of efficient lighting at Light + Building

March 3, 2010
Date Announced: 03 Mar 2010 “Sustainable products - choice for customers” is OSRAM’s theme at this year’s Light + Building, the leading architecture and technology fair, and OSRAM will use this platform to showcase the future of efficient lighting. Visitors will be able to see the latest lighting innovations that are available for homes, offices, shops and urban applications. In addition to proven solutions such as halogen and compact fluorescent lamps, the focus is also on LED and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). At the tenth Light + Building fair in Frankfurt, OSRAM’s focus is on sustainability under the banner “Sustainable products - choice for customers”. OSRAM’s stand will show the current stage of development for conventional lighting solutions such as halogen or compact fluorescent lamps plus the new generation of LED and OLED lighting based on established applications. New light for our homesOSRAM offers a wide range of consumer lighting solutions which reduce energy consumption in the home. New compact fluorescent lamps that emit a warm comfort light or are completely dimmable with energy savings of up to 80% will make it easier to bid farewell to incandescent lamps that are being phased out by the EU. Halogen ECO lamps are also an available alternative and provide energy savings of 30%. In addition, OSRAM’s latest PARATHOM® LED retrofit lamps show that the switch from traditional lighting solutions to the LED lamps can be done quickly and easily thanks to standard E27 and E14 bases.Better light at workOSRAM will also appear at Light + Building with its partner Siemens Building Technologies. Together, the two companies provide ideal lighting conditions at work. In combination with Siemens Building Technologies’ building automation solutions it is possible to implement dynamic, needs-based lighting with an integrated approach. This not only leads to cost savings but also contributes to people’s wellbeing at work.Fluorescent tubes have long been the mainstay of the industrial and office environment. In addition to OSRAM’s new, highly efficient and long-lasting LUMILUX® fluorescent tubes, it is also introducing an LED solution that can replace conventional fluorescent tubes at this year’s Light + Building. In addition to its energy efficiency, this LED tube features a long lifetime that reduces service intervals significantly.Brilliant colours in storeFor appealing product displays and natural colour reproduction, OSRAM has conventional and new lighting technologies on show. Energy-efficient halogen lamps, durable fluorescents with colour rendering similar to sunlight, and LED lamps that significantly reduce energy and maintenance requirements are ideal solutions for retail stores – whether they’re illuminating food or consumer goods. OSRAM’s new lamps for shops provide excellent colour rendition of goods which can create the right mood while the positive effects of ideal retail lighting influence consumer traffic and sales.Street and city lighting of the futureIn urban applications OSRAM shows how functional and decorative street and outdoor lighting will be designed in future. Dimmable high-pressure discharge lamps enable flexible use of light and can produce atmospheric lighting as required. In addition, the new Streetlight Advanced LED module provides lighting without scattered light. The module is fitted to a mounting panel and can be replaced as required without tools. The panel has been conceived and standardised so that any subsequent OSRAM LED street lighting solutions can be clipped to it making it future-proof. Apart from low energy consumption, this solution has very low maintenance costs and benefits from extremely long lifetime. The next generation of lightOSRAM demonstrates how LEDs are continuing their advance into general lighting via a joint venture with Traxon Technologies Ltd. In addition, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors will show the latest lighting developments on its own 50 square metre satellite stand. Over 600 Orbeos OLED panels form the heart of the stand in a light installation by the designers from LichtKunstLicht. Four special exhibits complete the installation with around 150 OLEDs in various colours and sizes. With its wide range of energy-saving and low-emission lighting solutions OSRAM is well placed to meet the increasing demand for highly efficient lighting. Visitors can see OSRAM’s latest solutions on stand B50 in hall 2.0 at Light + Building from 11–16 April 2010.
