Divcom Lighting introduces LED fixtures for residential consumer applications

Date Announced: 10 May 2006

MONTREAL, May 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Divcom Lighting ("Divcom" or the "Company") (DVQ: TSX Venture Exchange) announced today the Company is launching two lines of solid state LED (light emitting diode) lighting fixtures for interior and exterior consumer markets. LED lighting fixtures are destined to be one of the fastest growing segments of the US$20 billion North American lighting fixtures market. The new LED offerings are designed to complement Divcom's existing product lines.

"LED lighting fixtures are the wave of the future for a variety of interior and exterior residential applications," said Aslam Khatri, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The new product, which Linogene has branded "Decolux," uses superior quality high intensity diodes to produce a natural, warm white light similar to Halogen."

"Consumer appreciation of LED technology is growing and Divcom is putting the appropriate products in place to meet current demand," continued Mr. Khatri. "However, while LED demand is growing, it will be many years before this technology takes a significant share of the lighting industry. In the meantime, we will market aggressively both our traditional products and our new LED products."

"Divcom is in a unique position to bring these high-margin LED products to market. With over 2,000 agents and distributors reaching every retail and commercial market in North America, Divcom intends to establish itself early as a leader in the consumer LED segment, which is sure to grow quickly. We want our branded LED products to become the standard reference for high quality LED lighting fixtures in consumer markets. All of our commercial and residential subsidiaries are currently evaluating the strategic integration of LED's into their product line."

Linogene home décor products are ready to go!

Linogene Inc., a wholly owned Divcom subsidiary based in Prévost, Québec, is introducing high quality, LED recessed lighting for kitchens, bathrooms and other interior applications where warm, uniform and attractive lighting is required. Linogene's LED lighting, which is sold in easy-to-install kits of four lamps, consumes five times less energy than normal white light bulbs. Lasting up to 50,000 hours (compared to 2,000 hours for a long-lasting white light bulb,) Linogene's LED lighting fixtures are offered in a variety of colours and decorative finishes.

Linogene's LED lighting fixtures are in stock and available to Canadian distributors now, for immediate delivery. Rollout of the product in the United States will occur before the end of the current fiscal year.

Snoc will introduce LED garden lighting

Snoc expects to launch its LED-based garden product line this summer through Divcom's Canadian distribution network. The products will be released in the United States in time for summer 2007.

"There are many appropriate applications for LED lighting around the house and garden," said Mr. Khatri. "Divcom's LED products complement our other lines of quality lighting fixtures. We offer the consumer the possibility of combining LED and traditional lighting products to enhance their home and garden with designer quality lighting in complementary designs and finishes."
