EXALOS releases new 750 nm superluminescent LED line

Aug. 9, 2006
Date Announced: 09 Aug 2006 Schlieren, Switzerland, August 8, 2006. EXALOS has extended its family of powerful Superluminescent Light Emitting Diodes (SLEDs) with the new 750 nm Line. SLEDs are semiconductor light sources that combine the spatial coherence of a laser diode with the temporal incoherence of an LED. EXALOS SLEDs at 750 nm are especially suited for optical coherence tomography (OCT) and biomedical applications thanks to their high output power and large bandwidth, and high suppression of second coherence peaks. Their spectra show a clean Gaussian shape with very low ripple values. The advantages of SLEDs result in high resolution and fast scan times. Typical values for the EXS7505-1411 are 3.0 mW optical output powers in a single mode fiber and 21 nm 3dB spectral bandwidth. The EXS7510-1411 achieves 5.0 mW optical output powers in a single mode fiber and 14 nm 3dB spectral bandwidth. The standard product is delivered in a 14 PIN DIL housing with built in thermo electric cooler (TEC) and monitor diode. Uncooled devices in TOSA housings are also available. Also suited for biomedical and OCT applications are EXALOS SLEDs at 850 nm and 1300 nm. All devices are based on EXALOS proprietary design. Devices are in production and BELLCORE GR-468-CORE and MIL-STD-883 qualified.
